Legionella Risk Assessments Cornwall
Don’t fall behind, keep up with regulations. Prevent legionella provide legionella risk assessments in Cornwall. We are a specialist company that provide fully trained and competent staff for all your legionella control and water hygiene needs. We have a loyal client base ranging from Newquay, Truro and Falmouth in Cornwall and many more in Devon and the South west. Legionnaire’s disease is now widely recognised and strict legislation is being enforced, any building with water used inside for either domestic or industrial use, ranging from a club or charity organisation, housing association, factory or production facility to hotels and the leisure industry are affected by this. Legionella bacteria grows in water so where ever there is water there is a risk. The disease its self is deadly and the risk of it being in a hot or cold water system can be dramatically reduced by a few simple measures.
We recognise that this is an added cost to companies and organisations and that this is a specialist subject, but even with our trained staff we can keep the costs to a minimum. We have staff based all over the country from Cornwall and the southwest to the north east. There is no job too big or small.
The governing body for legionella control is the Legionella Control Association, and as a part of our compliance with the Code of Conduct we are required to advise you that you must have the following in place in order to comply with the basic requirements of the HSE`s Approved Code of Practice for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems (L8):
- A suitable and sufficient risk assessment carried out by a competent person
- A competent person appointed to take managerial control
- A scheme for managing, controlling and lowering the risk
- All water systems maintained in accordance with current water hygiene guidlines
- All maintenance, cleaning and monitoring undertaken by a suitably trained person or organization
- A system of records and checks to ensure the effectiveness of the controls and other activities
The Approved Code of Practice (L8) gives practical advice on the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH) and the Management of Health and safety at Work Regulations 1999 concerning the risk from exposure to legionella bacteria.
